Soccer or Bust!

I feel like I am really going to eat my words about the whole sports thing- Elijah is turning out to be quite the little athlete!

Goose Egg

How fitting that the day I decide to post the video of Elijah learning to pull up to standing is also the day that he takes his first big fall and gets his first goose-egg. He was playing and pulling up on a chair while I cleaned up from lunch, and then I heard it- a loud bump! Then the loud cry and big alligator tears. I felt so awful. I scooped him up quickly and began to hold him tight telling him it's okay and singing to him.
He calmed down, and I got the first look at his head- a big, blue goose-egg. After giving him Tylenol and trying our best to hold an ice pack on the bump, we took a few pictures to mark this memorable occasion. I told David that I felt like such a bad mommy, and he "reassured" me by telling me not to feel bad as this would be the first of many falls.
(If you look closely, you can see his little teeth in this picture! He has 3 teeth fully in and 3 more that just poked through!)

Pulling Up!

Elijah has been pulling up for a couple of weeks now, and is doing such a great job at standing with props, standing on his own for several seconds at a time, and even taking a couple of brave steps. In this video, he is standing up in his crib- this was actually the first place he learned to stand up on his own. As you can imagine naptimes have become a bit more challenging since he likes to play more than sleep now, but we know his tiredness will eventually overcome his excitement of his newfound ability to stand, and he will rest once again.
