Tot School- BIG Machine Week!

For quite some time I have been doing lots of research on when and how to begin homeschooling, and just recently I found exactly I was looking for all in one site: 1+1+1=1.  The author of this blog is not only incredibly talented in putting lots of fun lessons and activities together, but she also strongly desires to make her children worshippers of Jesus which is something that is of utmost importance to me. 

So after reading a lot from her site and getting tons of ideas, I got to work.  I decided to go with themed lessons every other week, and with an ABC lesson every other week just to mix things up a bit.  So I printed out her Big Machine Tot Book, and got to work pulling together ideas for crafts, books, activities and more. 

The entire week was a blast, and Elijah really seemed to enjoy learning in this creative way.  Here's how our days went:

We started out each day with coloring bulldozers to work on our colors, reading through the big machine book to name each kind of machine and working through our number cards.  We then read a book together (I was able to order some great books on Amazon.cn which was so nice), and then worked through some questions from each book.  After that we did a craft and then an activity together.  Lastly, we worked on his sticker book which he thought was just awesome.  

We had so much fun together, and most importantly of all, Elijah was learning.  I am looking forward to many more weeks of Tot School to come!

On Field Trip Friday, David took Elijah to a yard that had tons of big machines.  It was definitely the highlight of his week!
