First Prayer

Today at lunch, we had our helper and her son over to eat with us.  As usual before the meal we all held hands, and David prayed.  And as is our custom, when we have Chinese guests, we pray in Chinese.  So after David finished praying, Elijah asked if he could pray for our guests and meal too. Of course he could.

So Elijah's prayers are usually very age appropriate an go something like this, "Thank God for the wonderful day and the wonderful food we have.  Amen."  However today, he bowed his head and closed his little eyes and said, "Shangdi, xiexie ni gei women yi ge zui hao de aiyi he gege rang tamen gen women chi fan.  Xiexie ni gei wo mama, baba, he Enlin.  Xiexie ni gei women fan. Amen.", which means, "God, thank you for giving us the best helper and her son to eat lunch with us.  Thank you for my mommy, daddy, and Auburn Grace. Thank you for this food. Amen."

I was so proud of him- for wanting to pray for our friends, for really trying to talk to God rather than just saying his usual prayer lines, and just for his sweet heart toward God and others.

Elijah and his closest friend EH.
