A Fun Morning

Each Wednesday morning, Elijah and I spend time together doing some sort of arts & crafts project.  We always have so much fun together playing with playdough, paints, markers, and other craft accessories.  One week we made a collage for Gigi's door to give her a special welcome when she came.  Another time, we did colorful leaf rubbings (idea inspired by Gigi) and hung them on Elijah's door.  Yesterday we decided to do some painting with oil colors, watercolors, and even paint pens.

First we painted a rock- the rock is now a door stopper for Elijah's door which seems to slam several times a day due to a wind tunnel in our house that occurs when we open the front door.  We started out painting it with water only so Elijah could see how water changed the color of the rock.

Then we added some color- purple, green, orange, and yellow- beautiful fall colors.
We then moved onto a different project while our rock dried.  We painted with watercolors on paper, cut the paper into strips and then glued the strips on a separate piece of paper as a collage.  Elijah did really well with staying focused on each of these steps, and was even able to cut some for his very first time.
Cutting the strips- these are amazing little fiberglass scissors that cut paper only.  Love them!

The proud artist!

Elijah shows off his artwork (and his happy face).
